Paying My Respect to the Stand-up Comedy Business

If you follow the stand-up comedy world, you probably know that the whole business is slowly getting ruined by cancel culture.

One of the latest comedians under fire is Tony Hinchcliffe, who’s mainly known for insult comedy.

During his final performance before he got canceled, there was an Asian stand-up comic who performed before him. And when he introduced the crowd to Tony Hinchcliffe, that’s when the situation started going down.

Someone posted an edited video on Twitter where he started off his set with,

“How about one more time, for the filthy little f—ing ch–k that was just up here?”

And the video fast-forwarded to a bit where he shared a story of making Chinese jokes in one of his previous performances.

Now, that wasn’t the thing I had a problem with.

The problem I had in this case was how this was taken out-of-context and it turned into a situation that was more dramatic than it should’ve been.

And as a result, a lot of venues and people refused to work with him anymore. Even his talent agency stopped representing him.

In the online business world, taking things out-of-context is certainly nothing new. If anything, it’s so much easier for these Internet Business Mentors to show out-of-context things to their audience.

For example,

Photoshopping their sales results to make themselves look more successful than they actually are.

Faking their wealth by renting a luxurious Airbnb and posting content of them “living” there on social media.

Or renting an expensive sports car pretending that they own it.

Or how about the classic taking photos of themselves on a private jet set they rented in a photo studio?

There are even young stock trading prodigies who sell their knowledge to other ambitious stock traders, but people found out they just get their stock knowledge from other stock trading prodigies.

Stay skeptical, my friend.

Actually, that’s another good thing about my email copywriting methods in How to Become an Email Titan.

Not only will they make your emails more engaging, which can lead to more sales, but they’ll help you build stronger trust with your subscribers, making it a lot easier to win over the skeptics.

Although, of course, you have to be offering a genuinely helpful product or service, otherwise the entire thing will just backfire on you.

Anyways, the link to the book is here.
