Recently, I witnessed something that I thought was otherwise impossible.
There’s a man in China named Yang Tianxin who’s a huge soccer fan. In fact, he loves soccer so much that he trained a group of goldfish to play the sport.
He even transformed his fish tank into an underwater soccer field.
How did he do it?
The same way people train cats and dogs.
By using treats, positive reinforcement, and eventually, it turns into a conditioned response.
It took about six months for him to train the goldfish to move the ball into the goalposts. And in the future, he plans to have a soccer competition between two teams of goldfish.
How great would that be?
Imagine it turning into a huge thing where there’s an actual fan base and a sports betting business behind it.
They say goldfish only have a nine second attention span, so you’d imagine it being difficult to train them to play soccer, let alone keep them motivated.
But if they can learn to play soccer without any verbal communication or any form of proper coaching, then what good are our excuses when we say we can’t do something?
If a goldfish can learn to play soccer, then there’s no excuse why we can’t learn a new skill, reach a goal, or succeed at anything.
Anyways, that’s my quick, short unorthodox pep talk for today.
