Let’s go back to Doctor Who for a second.
I’ve been catching up on the newer seasons lately and as always, they were as enjoyable as ever. At least, until season 11 and 12, when new writers took over. I don’t know what they did, but the show just doesn’t feel the same anymore.
You know something’s wrong when you’re watching a show and you don’t get the temptation to binge-watch.
But prior to that mess, there’s a certain episode I want to talk about.
It starts off by introducing new villains that call themselves the Monks, who are shapeshifters that made themselves appear as human corpses.
The Doctor was on a mission to blow up a lab to prevent an outbreak. He locked himself in the chamber with the bomb and the only way to open the door was to crack the combination lock. The only problem was that he was blind.
The Doctor’s companion at the time, Bill, asked the Monks to recover the Doctor’s vision.
But that wish came at a cost.
The Monks took over Earth by rewriting history and brainwashing people to believe that they’ve been amongst humans since the beginning and protected them from danger.
They simply took over an entire race through massive influence.
No weapons fired. No deaths necessary. No force used.
Some people say that a similar thing is happening today. It’s not hard to find either, just take a look at what’s happening on the information warfare battleground that is politics and all media platforms, social media included.
Same thing in business.
You have the Internet Business Mentors with a massive audience and a huge power of influence, yet a lot of them have been proven to not be who they portray themselves as online. And when anyone tries to say something that’s negative about them, they’ll do whatever it takes to silence them, which tells me there’s some truth to what’s said.
Businesses that are legitimate wouldn’t give a damn about negative feedback because they’re too busy helping the customers they actually care about. In fact, some of them might even use that negative feedback to grow their influence further.
And if you’re looking for other ways to grow your influence, which leads to having a larger audience, stronger relationships with them, and more sales, one of the best ways is to get on the media.
That includes being featured on television and in publications, radio interviews, and podcasts.
I don’t know much about getting on television and getting featured in publications. If you’re looking for that, I can point you to the right people, just ask.
But to get yourself on podcasts, one resource I suggest is Matchmaker, which helped me get on a couple of shows relatively quickly.
And it’s free too, which is always great.
