What did the cyberbird say when it flew over Fiverr?
Cheap.
Cheap.
Cheap.
Don’t laugh too hard now, it’s true.
You can find so many different kinds of services there, and a lot of the services that are normally expensive are priced as low as $5.
While that sounds pretty nice, it doesn’t mean you should jump on those services and outsource everything to low cost Fiverr freelancers.
There’s a saying that goes like this:
“Cheap is the new expensive.”
Let me give you an example of what that means.
Many years ago, I wanted to buy a new mouse for my gaming computer. I had to decide whether I should buy one that’s $20 or one that goes for $60.
At the time, I was more concerned about saving money, so I went for the $20 mouse. A few weeks into using it, I already noticed some flaws.
The sensor was not the best.
My mouse clicks sometimes wouldn’t register.
Those two minor inconveniences built up a lot of frustration over time. Eventually, I decided to trash it (It didn’t even last three months) and buy the $60 mouse.
Just a few hours of using the new mouse, I could already tell that it was high quality, and it lasted for three years with no problems at all.
In the end, I spent $20 more than I needed to and went through an experience that never should’ve happened.
The lesson I learned?
Going with the cheap option may save you some money in the short term, it’ll cost you even more money and frustrations in the long run.
Same goes if you work with a cheap freelancer. They might save you money, but does that mean they’ll deliver the same quality of work as an experienced, high-value freelancer?
Maybe not.
And that’s definitely going to make you lose some brain cells.
