Hey there Daniel.

This is my private letter explaining to you (1) Why I want to take advantage of this, and (2) So you can get to know me a bit more because we don’t really have much email conversation history.

First off, thanks for this special holiday offer. This is actually great timing for me because I left my marketing job a few weeks ago to pivot into sales in pursuit of a new challenge. There was nothing wrong with the job, I absolutely loved it! I had amazing co-workers, a good manager, and a funny work nemesis. My manager’s manager was also a great leader. He gave me a watch as a farewell gift, which was unbelievably kind of him to do so.

I don’t know if you’re into watches, but I left a photo of it plus others if you’re interested:

Farewell photo with my former co-workers

Anyways, the reasons why I left a job I liked so much were:

1.. I felt stagnant. As great as my job was, the nature of the role was very limited in terms of responsibilities, so there wasn’t much depth to the job. And so, I decided to move on to find a new challenge. One of the things that helped me make this decision was listening to this podcast episode by a YouTube content creator I’ve been following ever since I was 14 years old (I’m 28 now). The big takeaway from that episode was to chase growth instead of happiness.

2.. In the future, I will leave the corporate setting to go back to freelancing, maybe build my own agency like Chris Orzy. So I feel having sales experience, along with my copywriting experience, will help with that.

3.. Of course, there’s money. After my grandpa passed away a few years ago, Taking care of my parents when they become old or sick is something I’ve been thinking about ever since. People are always talking about how expensive it is to raise children, but they don’t really talk about the cost of taking care of elderly parents. It’s part of the reason why I joined Troy’s Low Stress Options program. And having a career like sales, where earning potential is higher, will help grow my investment accounts exponentially and prepare for that.

And I’m not gonna lie, breaking into an entry-level sales role has been a little tough so far. It wouldn’t hurt to get some extra help from you and keep my copywriting muscles active. That’s why I’m interested in these three issues in particular:

Issue #12 – To help me with my sales career pursuit. And who knows, it might come in handy in my future freelancing venture when I decide to go after bigger/enterprise-level clients.

Issue #19 – Since I have more time to myself right now, I figured this issue will help me in my day-to-day life. While job searching, I’ve also been getting back into some hobbies that I put off, specifically satire writing (Like the Babylon Bee-type of content) and music production…maybe sketching too. So I’d love to read your take on productivity and see how I can apply it to my personal life (As well as my next job).

Issue #25 – I chose this out of pure curiosity. Plus, the other options in the 3rd tier weren’t relevant to me at the moment.

I know everything I wrote so far doesn’t directly prove that I’m not a pirate. But hopefully it shows that I have genuine reasons and motivations for taking advantage of this offer. I purposely published this letter on my website in case you want to look around. I was a freelancer at some point and practiced the things that you and Ben Settle teach. I’ll leave my LinkedIn profile link as well so you can see that my work history lines up with my story.

Hope you enjoyed reading this. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

-Ellisen

Earlier today, I caught up with a good business friend of mine.

We haven’t spoken since May so we had quite a lot to talk about.

Most of the conversation was, of course, business related matters. But towards the end, it transitioned into the topic of music.

After all, it was a conversation about music that began our relationship.

Being the professional musician that he is, among other things, I asked him for some advice as I make progress on building my music making skills.

The main takeaways?

1. Let your feelings guide you.

2. Be open minded.

3. Trust your ears.

Basically, he was trying to tell me to be experimental, and don’t think too logically except when it comes to things like structuring the song.

He then went on about how even the most successful artists produce not-so-great songs at times, except no one knows because they never share them with the public. Instead, they make a lot of songs and consult with their team to help pick out songs that are most likely to be a hit.

You can see this in real time too. There are independent artists who go on live streaming platforms and make music in front of their viewers. They complete a song every three or four days, yet only a select few gets released.

How does this relate to email copywriting?

Simple.

If you write emails as often as I do, you’ll find out that not all emails are going to give you great results. Some will do great while others, not so much. But that doesn’t mean it’d be better if you hadn’t sent out the mediocre emails at all.

Assuming you follow the email copywriting principles taught in How to Become an Email Titan, each email you send out is as equally important as any other email. The relationship building effect slowly compounds over time, which is where the real power of daily emailing lies.

If you don’t have a copy of the book already and would like to learn the email copywriting principles that I mentioned, you can get your hands on the sample chapters using the link below.

https://EllisenWang.com/email-titan-sample

I’ll be blunt here.

I don’t like how people seem to skip Thanksgiving and go straight to celebrating Christmas.

As soon as November comes, stores start bringing out their Christmas merchandise, and people start putting up their lights and trees.

Even worse,

They don’t take down their decorations until way past Christmas. The longest record goes to one of my former neighbors, who didn’t take down their lights until July.

Now I understand from a business standpoint that Christmas is a heavily commercialized holiday, and they want to take full advantage of it.

But Thanksgiving is my personal all-time favorite because it’s the holiday of gratitude (Duh, it’s in the name).

And gratitude is necessary to live a happy life.

One of the things I used to do is keep a gratitude journal. Each day, I’d write down the things I’m grateful for, good and bad.

Now I journal at least three pages each day in addition to having a gratitude list.

Since today is a special day, why not write a gratitude email.

Here are five things I’m grateful for.

1. People I met this year. Whether they’re networking contacts, clients, new friends or even people on my email list I interact with, I’m glad I met them all.

2. The friends I regularly interact with now. Being around them always makes my day better.

3. Technology. Making it easy to stay in touch with my friends, especially in a socially isolating time like this.

4. My mentors. That includes both the people I studied under directly and those whom I studied under through their books, courses, podcast, etc. I’d be in a completely different place if they weren’t in my life.

And last but not least,

5. The COVID lockdown. If I hadn’t been forced to stay home for eight long months, I wouldn’t have been working on the fun hobbies I’m doing now (Drawing and music). And How to Become an Email Titan wouldn’t have existed.

Which you can get the sample chapters of using the link below. And if you haven’t heard of it, it’s a book I wrote that teaches you how to write engaging sales emails that your readers will look forward to reading and buying from.

Enjoy, and happy Thanksgiving.

https://EllisenWang.com/email-titan-sample

A while ago, I helped a business owner write some cold emails to get leads for a new service he was providing for real estate brokers.

Yesterday, he called me to let me know that he’s putting the project on hold for now.

Apparently, his lawyer advised him to put in on hold because one of his other clients is currently getting sued for spam emailing. He didn’t want to risk getting sued either.

Since I deal with emailing pretty much everyday, I was well aware of the business laws of emailing, also known as the CAN-SPAM Act, and kept it in mind while I wrote the emails for him.

All the boxes were checked off:

No misleading From information and subject lines.

The company address was stated on the signature.

A database created to keep track of who we emailed and who requested to opt out so we make sure to not email those people ever again.

But in the end, it’s his business. I don’t think it’d be right of me to convince him to change his mind.

However, you can be sure that you won’t get sued if you decide to use my ways of emailing. I don’t teach any kind of deception tactics in How to Become an Email Titan.

It’s really only the core principles of email marketing. But what you write and everything else is up to you. Use your own brain, your own personality, your own writing style.

Use the link below to get the sample chapters of the book.

https://EllisenWang.com/email-titan-sample

Recently I went to a seminar and one of the speakers was a financial educator.

He was all right. A lot of stuff he talked about were concepts I already learned in my high school financial literacy class, but repeat lessons never hurt. There were also some things he talked about that I never knew like how to lower the amount of taxes you pay as a business owner.

But the thing that perked up my ears was the tactic he used to sell his programs.

Let me explain.

One of the topics he was taught us [the audience] was the importance of building credit. He then offered a book that teaches you how to build up credit. He only had five copies of the book for $20 each. Without hesitation, people pulled out $20 from their wallets and bought it. All the copies were sold in under a minute. But that wasn’t the ultimate tactic I wanted to share.

At the end of his talk, he pitched a 12 week financial literacy class for $30, which was shockingly low.

But then he said,

“If you’re interested in signing up, speak to me or my two associates. After tonight, you won’t be able to contact us.”

I’m not sure if he was serious when he said that, but that was, in my opinion, the best scarcity tactic I’ve ever seen.

Why?

He gave his audience ONLY ONE CHANCE to take advantage of his program. This forces the audience to make a decision right then and there. If procrastinators took too long to decide, they would lose out forever.

So if you need to add an urgency factor to your offers, creating scarcity is a great way to do so. But make sure you actually follow through with it.

Why? Well….

I’ll talk about that next week. This post is getting longer than I want it to be. So I’ll let you go about your day, I know you got other productive things to do.

But don’t forget to download my free e-book, “5 Steps to Create Money Generating Emails,” using the link down below.

https://EllisenWang.com/free-ebook

During my dark teen ages, I had a terrible acne problem.

In hopes to get rid of it, my mom decided to buy a Murad acne treatment regimen for me.

When my package arrived, I was excited! I thought this was going to be the golden ticket to restoring my baby-butt smooth face. I looked at the pamphlet that came with the package. It laid out how to use the regimen and it said something along the lines of this, “Your skin will clear up after 30 days of using the regimen.”

“Ok, I thought, “I can endure this acne problem for another month.”

Fast forward 30 days and, lo and behold, my face hasn’t changed. In fact, it looked like it got worse.

So what did I do?

I stopped using it and threw away their products. Looking back and knowing what I know now, Murad made a huge mistake!

They made a specific promise to their customers.

Since Murad promised that I’ll get a clear face in 30 days, I expected a clear face after 30 days. And when I found out the results didn’t show, I assumed their product doesn’t work. That’s one of the dangers of making specific promises.

But, when you make vague promises to your customers, they’ll think that the product will eventually give them the results they were promised. So they’ll keep using your product in hopes that the results will show one day.

You see, hope is a great selling tactic.
