At the beginning of this month, I sent out an email letting you know that I’m going to start journaling again.
And I did.
I haven’t missed a day and it’s still going strong.
I have to say, journaling for almost an entire month has been an interesting experience, to say the least, and strangely therapeutic.
Although this isn’t my first time journaling. Before the worldwide quarantine age started, I used to have a gratitude journal where every morning I would log what I was grateful for on the previous day.
Unfortunately, I stopped doing that. But now I just free-write three whole pages everyday about whatever is on my mind.
27 days and 21,000 words later, I’ve come up with my top three takeaways from my journaling experience.
And they are…
Number one. It’s a good alternative to meditation. Now meditation is pretty relaxing, but sometimes the thought of having to sit still for a couple of minutes makes me feel uncomfortable. I’m generally a fidgety person, so I need to move around. And typing on the keyboard does a good job fulfilling my ADHD-like needs.
Number two. It clears my brain and gets it flowing for the day. After I eat breakfast, I go to my computer and start journaling. Every thought that’s been sitting inside my brain from the previous day and the morning is dumped onto the virtual piece of paper, which leads to a monologue where I have thoughts that wouldn’t have come up otherwise.
And that leads to…
Point number three: New ideas
This is where it comes in handy for me on the business side of things. Journaling has given me the ability to come up with new ideas for articles and daily emails.
This is actually one of the methods that I share in Appendix Five of How to Become an Email Titan, How to Generate Endless Email Content.
If you want to learn the other seven methods I listed, the book is available for purchase as an e-book using the link below. If you prefer to have a print version, you’re going to have to wait a couple of more days.
