Don’t Be a Bumblebee in Marketing

One of my favorite cartoon shows I loved watching when I was young was Transformers. I still remember I’d get home from school, and watch some cartoon shows before starting my homework, one of the shows being that show.

When I found out they released a Michael Bay’s Transformers movie in theaters for the first time, I knew I had to see it. And I gotta say, after watching four out of the five movies, I was definitely not disappointed.

Everything was great!

The action.

The visual effects.

The humor.

And the characters.

One of my favorite characters in the entire franchise is Bumblebee, partially because he transforms into a Chevy Camaro, one of the cooler looking cars, in my opinion.

Other than that, one of his interesting character features is his inability to talk, so he uses the radio instead. So when he wants to talk, he’ll use a lot of segments from different radio stations to form the sentences he wants to say. And I thought that was kind of unique.

But then I thought about how that’s very similar to people who copy and paste emails and use them for their own campaigns. That could be whether they’re using email templates that are provided to them from digital courses or affiliate programs, or they’re shamelessly stealing someone else’s emails word for word and sending them to their own readers.

When people are writing their own emails, they’re using their own personality, their own voice. So when the swipers steal those emails, it sounds nothing like them. And readers aren’t stupid. If they know you well enough, they’ll be able to tell if the emails were truly written by you or were just copy and pasted. And that’s not going to do any good except lose their trust.

That’s why it’s better to write your own emails using a framework than to use canned, fill-in-the-blank email templates.

How to Become an Email Titan teaches you two effective email frameworks, but also has an appendix where the frameworks are put to use with a few sample emails, and the line-by-line analysis of each of those emails.

And you can read them right now.
