In the marketing world, the most valuable thing you can get from your customer is not their money.
It’s their attention.
Yes, it is nice for them to give you their money, but it doesn’t happen if you don’t get their attention in the first place.
Attention is something that cannot be stressed enough in the marketing world. Everything we do revolves around getting our customer’s attention.
And we only have one chance to grab their first few seconds of it.
When it comes to video, we use an attractive thumbnail.
When it comes to sales letters, we use big bold text and a dramatic statement.
When it comes to email, it all comes down to that subject line.
I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to come up with catchy subject lines sometimes. And if you’re sending out emails as frequently as I am, it takes quite a bit of brainpower.
So if you’re stuck, here are two ways you can come up with great subject lines.
The first way is to write your letter first. Once you have the full picture of what the email is about, coming up with a subject line will be a lot easier.
Number two, look through some of your favorite emails you’ve gotten in your inbox for inspiration. If you don’t have any for whatever reason, you can probably find subject line swipe files online to draw inspiration from.
The third way, which is not really a tip to write subject lines, is to make your readers fall in love with your emails so that subject lines don’t even matter anymore. Just seeing your name will make them want to open and read your emails.
How do you do that, you may be wondering?
I go into that in chapters five and six of How to Become an Email Titan, now available as an e-book. If you prefer to have a physical version, you’re gonna have to wait a couple of days.
If you’re not sure it’s worth buying, then you can download the sample chapters down below.
