My Journey to Finding the Perfect Freelancer

When I finalized my vision of what I wanted the cover to look like for How to Become an Email Titan, I went on a quest to find the perfect illustrator.

I asked my friends on social media. Some of them offered to help. Others suggested I try searching on Fiverr.

Ha.

Ever since I had that experience with Ahmad? No way. Fiverr was the last place I wanted to go to.

So with all the options that were given to me, I decided to go with this woman on Instagram who offered to help. Though her art style doesn’t exactly match my vision’s, it was close enough. So I sent her a message and waited.

*Three days later*

No response. Ok then, there’s no other choice. I guess I gotta go on… *shudders* …Fiverr.

So I logged on to my account that’s been gathering cyber dust for the last nine months and posted a job request.

The next day I checked the job request and got 31 offers.

Unfortunately, I wanted to work with someone who’s close to my time zone, so I declined all of them because they were either located on the other side of the world, or their art style wasn’t what I wanted.

Ok round two. I bumped the request.

Next day comes and I get another 20 offers. I looked through each profile one by one. Anyone who wasn’t in North or South America I deleted.

Eventually, I came across this person. Four and a half stars, over a thousand reviews, and located in Mexico.

Seems promising.

Then I looked through his portfolio. I couldn’t believe my eyes. His art style matched my vision’s almost perfectly. So I sent him a message and the rest was history.

You know, it really sucks to not have a go-to person when you need to get certain things done. I’ve never worked with an illustrator before so I had to spend so many days finding one, which delays the moment I can send the book to the printer.

But when you’ve found the one, you don’t need to spend any more time searching. You don’t need to vet them every time. You just tell them what you want done and let them work their magic, knowing that you’re in good hands.

Will that be the same if you decide to work with me?

You never know, but you can find out by scheduling a time to talk. All you have to do is join the wait list and wait for the email letting you know that spots are opening up.
