One of my favorite YouTube content creators of all time is David So.
He’s a Korean American singer, stand up comedian, and entrepreneur. I’ve been following this guy since 2011.
Wow….that’s crazy. I’ve been following him for almost 10 years. It’s amazing how fast the time goes by.
Anyways, I was rewatching a video he made six months ago. He was promoting a South Korean skin care brand called Dr. Jart+.
If you’d like to check his video out, here’s the link.
Just a warning, his personality is not the most sophisticated and the language isn’t exactly PG. So if that bothers you, don’t watch it.
But I wanted to share this with you because I think it’s one of the best product promotion videos I’ve ever seen.
And here’s why.
If you watch other people’s product promotion videos, especially when they’re promoting products they’re affiliate partners with, they all follow the same format in some way, shape, or form.
They give a description of the product, list the pros and cons, and that’s about it.
David took it three steps further and added his own twist to his Dr. Jart+ promotion video.
The main element he added?
His humor.
It was everywhere throughout the video and it did a great job holding my attention as well as his other 80,000 viewers’.
By the time I finished watching, I clicked on his affiliate link to check out the products. I didn’t end up buying anything. But if his video made me want to just check out the products, then chances are there are other people who actually bought them.
So what I’m trying to tell you is this:
Mix in some entertainment with your selling.
Entertainment does a great job when it comes to keeping your reader’s attention, and building stronger bonds.
We live in a world where people are constantly craving entertainment. If they experience even a minute of boredom, they’ll find something else that won’t bore them.
And this certainly applies to emails too. If you write boring, no one’s going to want to read them. But if you add some entertainment, your readers will never get enough of ‘em.
