A Valuable Commitment Tactic From the King of High Ticket Sales, Dan Lok

Let’s talk psychology.

I recently listened to an interview where someone was talking about his terrible experience in Dan Lok’s High Ticket Closer Program. After listening to him, it just sounded like he didn’t put in the effort to get results he wanted and refused to take responsibility.

Long story short, he wasted $26,000, but that’s not the point.

The person shared something that I found really interesting.

At the end of the seven week High Ticket Closer Program, Dan congratulated his students and said, “Before I let you go, let me ask you. Am I just your sifu for seven weeks, or am I your sifu for a lifetime?”

During those seven weeks, the students felt like they bonded with Dan and felt obligated to continue following him. So they replied, “Of course sifu! We’re devoted.”

Dan then offered a continuation program called “Inner Circle.” And the students immediately signed up.

So what just happened?

Dan used the concepts of commitment and consistency to create one powerful persuasion tactic. The students already showed a high level of commitment by signing up for the High Ticket Closer Program. To be consistent with that commitment, they signed up for the Inner Circle Program. 

That last part is key! No one wants to be seen as inconsistent; it’s an undesirable trait in society, and that’s how Dan is able to make so many sales from his students.

Indeed it’s a powerful tactic, but you know what they say about power:
“With great power comes great responsibility.”

You can definitely use this to make more sales for your business too. But please, only use it for the betterment of your audience. Don’t manipulate them into giving you their hard-earned money for something that won’t even help them.

With that said, here’s how you can apply this to get your audience slowly committed to you:

1. Give them a valuable freebie in exchange for their email.

2. Offer a low-cost entry level product.

3. Sell them your core product.

4. Upsell more products that compliment your core product.
