One morning I was cooking my regular breakfast, egg sandwich with cheese and avocado (so yummy), and my mom was on the iPad watching her drama shows on Youtube. All of a sudden, an advertisement started playing and I heard this:
“Let’s face it. Quitting smoking is f**king hard.”
I couldn’t believe my ears. That was the first time I ever heard an advertisement that cursed. I immediately stopped what I was doing, snapped my head to the iPad and listened to the ad.
After I processed what happened and went back to eating my sandwich, I started thinking… Props to the person who came up with the idea to start the ad off like that! It did a great job grabbing my attention.
Many online ads I see or emails I get aren’t as good at getting my attention than that quit smoking ad, which is a big problem for businesses.
When people don’t pay attention to ads or sales emails that businesses put out, they’re not going to make any sales and their advertising dollars might as well be flushed down the toilet.
So the lesson I want you to learn today,
Write emails that grab your readers’ attention and make them want to read.
And don’t be afraid to take an unorthodox approach. I always see people looking for headline formulas or subject line templates. Yes they work until you start relying on them and use it too often.
Remember:
More attention = more engagement = more sales
If you need some attention-grabbing emails written, I’m here to help.
