How often do you talk about yourself whenever you write emails?
If your answer is “A lot,” then you’re writing your emails wrong!
The cold-hearted truth is:
Nobody cares about you.
Hurts doesn’t it? But that’s the reality. Think about those typical company about pages.
Do you think people care about things like….
• How long the company has been in business?
• How many employees they have?
• Or who founded the company?
No!
People really care about is how you can help them, and that’s how you should be writing your emails.
80% of your email letter should be interesting, educational, and/or entertaining information. In other words, majority of the letter should be about your customers.
The last 20% should be a soft sell of your products. Just two or three sentences is good enough. No need to make a long, aggressive sales pitch.
Now go out there and write some awesome emails!
